Mental Strategies
1: Addition 2: Subtraction 3: Multiplication
4: Division
The most important progression document is the Number Fun Mental Strategies Visual Calculation Policy. This set of posters show the progression of mental strategies across all four operations.
The posters display the name we’ve given to each strategy and a suggested jotting layout. They also include a thumbnail of that strategy’s Number Fun character.
The posters are ideal for use on your interactive whiteboard or on your working wall. In fact, setting up a Mental Strategies display is a great idea in the classroom, making this progression document an incredibly comprehensive and versatile set of posters! All these progression documents are powerful tools to help you plan and develop your use of MAP within school. Click to link through to the Strategies Progression Page, which includes details of the Number Fun Strategy Videos and Strategy Activities available to support the teaching of each progression.
