CPD Options
MAP is the creation of Mathematics Consultants and Trainers, Dave Godfrey and Anthony Reddy. Below, you’ll find details of how you and your teaching staff can be personally trained by Anthony or Dave. These training options equip you to deliver effective and engaging MAP sessions within school.
Dave Godfrey
Dave is an experienced teacher, trainer and maths consultant. He is an accredited PD Lead for NCETM and the author of the widely acclaimed Number Fun videos. Dave has also produced a wide range of high quality interactive mathematics resources. Dave lives in York.
Anthony Reddy
Anthony is is an independent and experienced Senior Mathematics Consultant who has been involved in delivering highly effective, quality mathematics training nationwide and internationally for the past 20 years. Anthony is based in Blackburn.
Face to Face
Training
Ideally, training is delivered face-to-face. The 3 suggestions below can be adapted to meet your specific needs. They can be run as full day / half day sessions across phases or delivered for specific phases. Each session aims to equip all staff with highly effective strategies for teaching mental mathematics.
Day 1: MAP Overview Day: Putting MAP into Practice in your School
• Session 1: Introducing MAP, Resources Overview and Counting Skills
• Session 2: Learning Facts and Running a MAP Session
• Session 3: Mental Strategies and leading a 6-Week Block
Day 2: Mastery of Counting Skills and Learning Facts: A day to equip teachers with knowledge of the progression and range of activities available for Counting and Learning Facts. (1/3 Counting & 2/3 Learning Facts)
Day 3: Mastery of Mental Strategies: A day dedicated to mastering the range and progression of mental strategies across all 4 operations and how to teach them effectively.
Online/Remote
CPD Training
Dave and Anthony provide online CPD training for subject leaders, schools, MATs and clusters, with advice and support in how to deliver effective MAP sessions. These remote sessions are ideal for twilight training. Also available as longer or more bespoke packages.
