Number Fun is crafted by the UK’s own Dave Godfrey, a primary maths

expert, and transforms maths learning into an exciting adventure for

3–11-year-olds.

Established in 2000, Dave’s innovative approach now boasts over 500

videos - tools that creatively engage children in deep mathematical

learning. These videos, and the vast array of accompanying resources,

utilise visualisation, animation, vocabulary, story, song and humour to help

children understand and remember different mathematical concepts!

The Number Fun tools are fully aligned with current schemes and curricula,

and reflect the latest research into learning. Please check out the

Resources section below!

Dave regularly visits primary schools to equip staff to utilise Number Fun

within school and to support them more widely in their development of

mathematics.

Dave has worked alongside Anthony Reddy, a fellow Mathematics Consultant, to create MAP: Mental Arithmetic Practice. This brand-new and comprehensive, online whole school toolkit redefines the teaching and learning of mental mathematics in primary schools.

Dave is also the creator of the Primary Mathematics WOW Lessons found on EuHu. These lessons tackle some of the trickiest mathematical concepts across Key Stages 1 and 2. They also model how lessons can built creatively around the use of a Number Fun video.

Visual Policies

A Visual Policy is a set of posters that provide teaching staff and children with clear visualisations of the mathematics found within a particular mathematical domain, e.g. Calculation, Fractions etc.

Each policy comes as a school branded PDF document and is for sole use within your school. Each document provides clarity on the core concepts, suggested layouts for recording and full progressions found within each theme.

The policies can be used by teachers in their teaching, in displays, on working walls, in communication (e.g. with parents) and in planning.

“The thing that really stood out for me was the clarity that you have brought to the list of efficient mental strategies pupils should be taught to draw .

The other factor that made MAP stand out for me was the element of fun …The characters, catchphrases and songs within MAP support children to embed the range of mental strategies available to them”

What experts are saying about

I was first introduced to Number Fun in 2005 when I was working as a Teacher Adviser for Primary Maths…Dave’s understanding of how best to illustrate and support the learning and teaching of mathematical concepts through the use of story, video and song has hugely developed. He has spent many years honing his craft and has created and refined an incredibly effective suite of resources which he supports with excellent continuous professional development for teachers. I would recommend Number Fun to any organisation - it is a superb resource.

Rachel Tomlinson

Headteacher, Barrowford Primary School

The use of story within the Number Fun Portal makes the concepts of the curriculum clear for children. This, alongside the use of pictorial representations and animations, provides children with an opportunity to create really deep understanding.
