Training
Dave has taught across the primary age-range and he brings his wealth of experience to bear in his dynamic training programme. Dave’s training aims to help raise standards by increasing teachers’ confidence and subject knowledge, and by giving them tools to be creative and to enjoy the subject!
Each training block comes packed with engaging ideas alongside the foundation of relevant theory. All Dave’s CPD events are presented in a relevant, engaging, fun-filled and interactive style.
Dave would be delighted to provide bespoke training for your school or group of schools. As well as leading sessions on specific mathematical domains (e.g.calculation) Dave also trains on the following cross domain themes:
• Revitalising Mathematics - bringing back enjoyment and creativity
• Mastering the use of Models and Images (The C.P.A. Approach)
• Bar Model – Mastering the use of the Singapore Bar Model Approach
• Number Fun – A Creative and Powerful Tools in Mathematics
• Reasoning and Talk Mathematics
"I’ve known Dave for a long time. He presents and opens up mathematical concepts in a uniquely creative and engaging way. He helps children and teachers engage with and enjoy the subject, whilst helping them develop deep mathematical understanding. My staff warmly welcome Dave whenever he comes to school and his training has helped equip us to teach mathematics effectively."

Consultancy
Dave has spent many years helping schools improve their teaching of
mathematics through ongoing consultancy work.
Dave’s consultancy often begins with a day-long audit of mathematics which aims to identify and celebrate strengths, as well as highlight key areas for improvement.
In the light of his findings, Dave then provides consultancy support to help the school develop their teaching of mathematics. This support typically includes helping teachers advance their own mathematical understanding and teaching of mathematics; encouraging the development of mathematically rich environments; and the establishment of structures and policies to provide a practical, consistent and powerful way forward for improving performance.
“Dave Godfrey/Number Fun has worked with our group of local authority maintained schools for two years now as a mathematics consultant. He has created innovative approaches to deliver the new curriculum and is always ready to tailor the training to suit the needs of the schools in the group. Great fun, lots of ideas and enjoyment alongside deepening understanding.”

Days
Action-packed celebrations of mathematics that include both fun-filled
workshops for children and training for staff.
Assembly: A typical Number Fun Day begins with a Maths-based
Collective Worship/Assembly for the whole school.
Workshops: Four (up to an hour long) workshops – each one aimed at
a different phase or year-group (e.g. 3-5, 5-7, 7-9 and 9-11).
Staff Training: Hour long session aimed at equipping staff to creatively
use the Number Fun Resources effectively within their ongoing teaching
of primary mathematics.
Dave’s presentation is fun and fast moving, and includes puppetry,
role play, props, concrete mathematical resources and actions.
Dave carefully models for teachers creative ways they might use the
Number Fun songs and videos. It’s a great opportunity for teachers
to reflect upon, learn and grasp the power of Number Fun for teaching
mathematical concepts.
"I just wanted to say a big thank you for today. The children absolutely loved it and the teachers have
said how fantastic it was. One teacher who is leaving the profession at Easter, now wants to stay! She
said it’s reminded her how fantastic this job can be! It’s been a difficult week and today was just what
everyone needed. We’re all very keen to use the songs as a learning tool and I think they will have a
massive impact on our maths and the enjoyment of it."
Matt, Wolverhampton
“I was first introduced to Number Fun in 2005 when I was working as a Teacher Adviser for Primary Maths…
Dave’s understanding of how best to illustrate and support the learning and teaching of mathematical concepts through the use of story, video and song has hugely developed. He has spent many years honing his craft and has created and refined an incredibly effective suite of resources which he supports with excellent continuous professional development for teachers.
I believe that Dave’s Number Fun resources, and his well-constructed and clear training, has had a hugely positive impact on the skills and knowledge of our teaching team. My staff’s pedagogical understanding has greatly increased and, in turn, has equipped them to teach mathematics with increased confidence and enjoyment.
I would recommend Dave and Number Fun to
any organisation - it is a superb resource "
