In the following story, explore where their character strengths were demonstrated and helped them to overcome challenges and difficulties.

Lily Parr
1905 - 1978
My name is Lily Parr. I grew up in a busy town called St. Helens in Northern England. It was tough, but I didn’t mind. I had my brothers, and we loved playing football. There weren’t many football pitches, so we played on bumpy old fields. I didn’t care—I just wanted to kick the ball and score goals.

When I was 14, I was already strong and fast. A local football team asked me to join, and soon, I was scoring lots of goals. Then, a big team called Dick, Kerr’s Ladies wanted me to play for them. I was only 15—it was a big decision. But I was brave and excited, so I said yes!
