In the following story, explore where their character strengths were demonstrated and helped them to overcome challenges and difficulties.

Lillian Gilbreth
1878 - 1972
I was born in Oakland, California, in 1878, and was the oldest of nine children. It was a big and busy household. Due to my mother’s poor health, I didn’t go to school until I was nine years old. But that didn’t seem to set me back at all, as I did well and got very good grades.

Although my father was proud of how well I was doing, he didn’t believe that women should go to university. I managed to convince him, but I had to promise to live at home and continue looking after my brothers and sisters.
