Florence Nightingale

My name is Florence Nightingale. I was born a long time ago, in 1820, in a city called Florence in Italy. That’s how I got my name! My family was rich, so we lived a very comfortable life.

My father believed that girls should learn, so he taught me Science, History, and Mathematics. I loved learning, and I was so thankful for the chance to understand the world.
