This cross-curricular writing lesson will help children apply their knowledge of present tense to a piece of writing based on their history learning. In this lesson, you will explore the following English TAF criteria in the context of a piece of extended historical writing: -write about real events, recording these simply and clearly -use present and past tense mostly correctly and consistently Children will revisit previous English learning about past and present tense and be able to apply these skills within their historical context. Children will produce a comic strip recounting the events of The Great Fire of London through the eyes of Vlad the flea and Boxton the rat. The main element of this lesson will draw on the story “Vlad and The Great Fire of London” as inspiration for the children to write.
