Description
Base 10 Count On is a visual way to allow children to see what happens when counting on in multiples of Hundred, Ten and One from a given number. It prepares the way for the ‘Count On’ (CoO) strategy, where the number line is used to represent more than a single counting on step. The main aim of the activity is to engage children in physically using Base 10 apparatus so that they can see which digits change when counting on. Base 10 Count On is usually the first counting on activity that will occur during the first planning block in Years 2 – 5.
