Description
A way in which children can ‘see’ a larger amount is simply by recognising it. Unlike subitising, which is always random & unstructured, recognising relies on children having had regular experience of working with numbers that have been arranged in a particular way. These numbers are usually in a structured system, making them much easier for the brain to interpret immediately.
