Description
The other MAP activities involving pattern recognition have either been connected with specific arrangements such as Number Frames and dice, where children will already associate the images with a particular number, or Ten Frame subitising. This activity extends the more structured subitising games, practised with Ten Frames, that children will have already encountered. Instead of discussing a pre-determined arrangement of counters within a frame (which may have a relatively limited amount of ways to describe the arrangement), subliminal subitising is much more random, and often gives a much wider range of ways in which an arrangement can be seen.
