WOW Lesson
Description
In this Wow lesson, you will be introduced to the abstract paintings of Hilma af Klint. Klint is now thought to be a forerunner of abstract paintings and predates Kandinsky and Mondrian in that style. You will use sketchbooks or planning papers to experiment with ideas. You will look at and gain inspiration from her use of bold colours and a mixture of organic and geometric shapes. You will also learn how, although she was classically trained and talented in the art of landscape painting, portraiture and botanical painting, she had a long-term passion project of abstract paintings. Klint believed these paintings came ‘through’ not ‘from’ her.
