Description
This cross-curricular writing lesson will help children apply their knowledge of subordination to a piece of writing based on their geography learning. In this lesson, you will explore the following English TAF criteria in the context of a piece of extended geographical writing: - Write simple, coherent narratives about personal experiences and those of others (real or fictional) - Use some subordination (e.g. when / if / that / because) to join clauses (If children haven’t learned about sub-ordination yet, this element could be removed, or adapted to focus on co-ordination) Children will revisit previous English learning about subordination and be able to apply these skills within their geographical context. Children will produce a postcard in role as Max from ‘Dear Dinosaur’ by Nicola O’Byrne. The content of this postcard will be based on their learning about the 7 continents in geography lessons. Children will use key facts about a chosen continent in their writing.
