About Amy Welsh

My name is Amy, I live in the north-west of England with my husband, 2 children and our collection of pets. I am a proactive practitioner with an adaptable and responsible approach to teaching and learning, over the years I have developed a concise and clear explanation regarding teaching and subject knowledge utilising current research.

As a mainly self-taught Computer Scientist I have first-hand experience of the difficulties upskilling subject knowledge and pedagogy while having a full-time teaching role. This has encouraged me to pursue roles that allow me to share subject knowledge and pedagogy with colleagues and provides the opportunity to support teachers wishing to improve their subject knowledge further.

I have recently completed my Masters in STEM Education focusing on how to enable computing to be seen as a more inclusive subject, where anyone can succeed.

KS1 - Algorithms

Join Computing expert, Amy Welsh, for a lesson which explores algorithms, how they work, what they are used for and how we can create them ourselves.

KS1 - Programming: What is debugging?

Join Computing expert, Amy Welsh, for a lesson which explores debugging, where it is used, why it's so important and how we can debug programs ourselves.

LKS2 - Computer Networks: Let's learn about the Internet

Join Computing expert, Amy Welsh, as she shares a lesson designed to support children's understanding of computer networks and the Internet.

In this lesson, children will learn about the hardware in school, where it is located and how it is connected. They will collaborate on their understanding of the Internet and the WWW and think about how they can be defined.

LKS2 What is a sequence? What is repetition?

Join Computing expert, Amy Welsh, as she shares a lesson on programming, which will help to deepen pupils' understanding of sequences and repetition.

In this lesson, you will explore what is sequencing and repetition, where we use them and how to create a program using them.

UKS2 - Computer Networks: How does data travel on the Internet?

Join Computing expert, Amy Welsh, as she shares a lesson designed to support children's understanding of how data travels across the Internet.

In this lesson, children will learn about data packets and how data travels across the globe.

UKS2 - Algorithms: What is selection?

Join Computing expert, Amy Welsh, as she shares a lesson designed to teach children about selection. In this lesson, the children will explore the need for selection and how they use them in programs. This leads onto creating a program for a specific purpose using selection and variables.
